Message from the Manager

To our valued theatre community,

It has now been nine weeks since we closed our theatre doors to you and joined the effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through our temporary closure and its effect on our upcoming shows. The response of ticket holders has been overwhelmingly understanding and positive.

Thank you to those who responded to our recent customer survey. We have had a huge response and it is overwhelmingly clear that our community wants to get back to live events.  It will come as no surprise to you that we do too!

These are unprecedented times for all of us, and having a dark theatre is not exactly what we had planned for you in 2020. But in true theatre spirit the show does go on behind the closed doors.  We are working closely with the theatre, events and sporting industries to develop a safe work plan with the government.

For now, whilst our stage may be empty, we are not resting. Instead, our team is getting ready for your return.  We are continuing to speak with producers and artists to bring the wonderful shows we were planning back to our city soon. We are working with local artists and colleagues to rethink how we can deliver entertainment under new restrictions. We are implementing new processes, reviewing operations and spending time meticulously cleaning and upgrading our theatre so that it is sparkling and ready when the time comes.

The timelines are still unknown, but we are strengthened by your support and well wishes.  Exciting things are ahead. We will continue to keep you updated as restrictions are eased and a safe path is laid.

We know that when this passes, we will have you, our theatre loving audience, to support the theatre and its artists. We encourage you to come back and visit us when you can and to reignite the performing arts industry in Australia so that it can return as a thriving part of our society.

To our theatre audience

The Wagga Wagga City Council has announced the cancellation or postponement of all scheduled performances at the Civic Theatre, commencing Thursday 19 March 2020 until 30 June 2020.

Where possible, effected performances will be rescheduled to later in the year or early next year so that our audiences don’t miss out.  If you hold tickets to performances during this period, there is no need to contact us as we will contact you by email to inform you of new performance dates or to issue a refund. We ask for your patience during this time.

Turning away our audiences and the performers they love is heart breaking. So we will continue providing entertainment and raising the spirits of our community by providing as much free online performance content as we can via our social pages.

We will be doing our best to support the live performance industry throughout these unprecedented times.  I encourage you to do so also.  Sign up for an online paid concert, get tickets to a performance that is scheduled for later in the year.  And when our doors open again, join us.

Performances beyond the closure period will remain on sale, and you should feel confident purchasing tickets and supporting artists with our assurance that if there are cancellations you will receive a refund.

A decision on potential further closure will take into consideration any developments in the COVID-19 situation and advice from government and medical authorities.

Until then, stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Civic Theatre with open arms.
