Drama as a Teaching Tool (NESA Accredited)

August 2024, 3.30pm - 5.30pm

A professional development opportunity for teachers to explore processes and practices for engagement with Drama across all curriculum areas, from literacy to numeracy and beyond. By using Drama-based approaches and activities in the classroom, teachers enhance student engagement and boost academic achievement. The workshop is run by a skilled Teaching Artist and supported by years of experience in Arts Education from the Monkey Baa Learning team.

Teacher as Artists Approaching Text

Tuesday 3 September, 4pm-5.30pm

Facilitated by Melbourne Theatre Company and suitable for Drama and English teachers.

Nurture your inner artists with insights into Melbourne Theatre Company's theatre-making process and activities to get your creative juices flowing.

Explore various approaches to interpreting a script, with insights from the SLAP. BANG. KISS rehearsal room.

Mine the text for facts and given circumstances, make predictions, annotate objectives, beats and units, then try your ideas out on the floor. There will  also be time for Q&A with a guest from Melbourne Theatre Company.
